The California Surf Academy is one of the most experienced surf schools in California. Located in beautiful Southern Orange County, the focus of The Academy, is to provide surfers of all ability levels a fun and safe experience in the ocean. Our beaches and oceans can be enjoyed in many ways, but none better than riding on top of a wave at full speed! Surfing can change your life in some of the most positive ways. It can become a passion so consuming that just thinking about waves gives you goosebumps and butterflies in your stomach.

All of our instructors put your safety and enjoyment first. That is why we are all First Aid Certified and CPR trained with years of experiences teaching people of all ages and ability levels.
Alek rOCKRISE
My name is Alek Rockrise and I am the founder of The California Surf Academy. The Academy has been a brain child of mine for years and it wasn't until recently that I finally decided to make the leap of faith and live my dream.

I have been giving surf lessons all over the United States since I was 16 years old. That's over a decade ago! And if anything, my passion for teaching and surfing has only gotten stronger! I have taught men and women, boys and girls, people of all shapes and sizes and realized long ago, that surfing is something worth sharing with others because not only does it bring a smile to their faces, but also too mine!

I have worked for many different surf camps and schools from the East Coast to the Gulf Coast and finally here at home on the West Coast. I am a graduate of UNC at Wilmington where I majored in Communication Studies and Psychology. While there, I worked for various local surf camps and competed on my college surf team winning two East Coast Championships.

Since then, I have continued to pursue my dream of surfing every day and being a competitive longboard surfer. I have been a competitor in the Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational at the US Open of Surfing. I am currently ranked 26th on the World Longboard Surfing Tour and have competed all over the world with various degrees of success :)!
